CONSIDERATION OF GOVERNMENT PAPERS-PROPOSED AMENDMENT OF A SESSIONAL ORDER

Senator Vigor, pursuant to notice, moved-That the Sessional Order of 22 February 1985 relating to the consideration of Government Papers be amended by adding after paragraph (2) the following new paragraph:

""(2a) Where a statement by a Minister is presented and a motion is moved to take note of that statement in accordance with paragraph (1), the time taken by debate on that motion shall be disregarded for the purpose of the limitation of time provided by paragraph 2 (b).''.

Debate ensued.

The Minister for Education (Senator Ryan) moved an amendment, viz: Leave out all words after ""be'' (first occurring), insert, ""referred to the Standing Orders Committee.''.

Question-That the words proposed to be left out be left out-put.
