NOBEL PEACE PRIZE 1986

Senator Puplick, pursuant to Notice of Motion not objected to as a Formal Motion, moved-That the Senate-

(a) congratulates Mr Elil Wiesel, a survivor and historian of the holocaust, on the award to him of the 1986 Nobel Prize for Peace;

(b) commends the Norwegian Nobel Committee on its choice and notes with admiration the words of its citation that Mr Wiesel ""is a messenger to mankind, his message is one of peace, atonement and human dignity'', and that his example shows that ""the forces fighting evil in the world can be victorious''.
