Senator Puplick: To move on the next day of sitting-That the Senate-

(a) notes with great satisfaction the wonderful supportive reception given to the fleets of the Allied Nations by the people of Sydney during the recent celebration of the Royal Australian Navy's 75th Anniversary, and the great public support given to the related air-shows at Nowra and Amberley; and

(b) is of the opinion that this genuine expression of the view of the people of Australia confirms the belief that Australians support our system of defensive alliances (in particular the alliance with the United States) and totally reject the anti-American, isolationist policies of the Australian Labor Party left-wing and its allies the Australian Democrats and the Nuclear Disarmament Party.

Senator Michael Baume: To move on the next day of sitting-That the Senate-

(a) congratulates the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) on its 75th Anniversary;

(b) commends the officers and men and women of the RAN for their outstanding achievements over 3/4 of a century of gallant and honourable service;

(c) acknowledges with gratitude the sacrifices, including the supreme sacrifice, made by members of our naval forces in our defence;

(d) applauds the RAN for the success of the celebrations it organised for its Anniversary, particularly in Sydney Harbour and at the Fleet Air Arm Base HMAS Albatross; and

(e) wishes the RAN a successful future in its key role as a deterrent in maintaining the peace and, in the event of war, in defending Australia and our allies.

The Minister for Education (Senator Ryan): To move on the next day of sitting-That leave be given to introduce a Bill for an Act to amend the Student Assistance Act 1973, and for related purposes.

No. 1-To move 11 sitting days after today-That the Children's Services Ordinance 1986, as contained in Australian Capital Territory Ordinance No. 13 of 1986 and made under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910, be disallowed.

No. 2-To move 11 sitting days after today-That the Crimes (Amendment) Ordinance 1986, as contained in Australian Capital Territory Ordinance No. 15 of 1986 and made under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910, be disallowed.

No. 3-To move 11 sitting days after today-That the Public Service Regulations (Amendment), as contained in Statutory Rules 1986 No. 130 and made under the Public Service Act 1922, be disallowed.

Senator Michael Baume: To move on the next day of sitting-That the Senate thanks the naval forces of our allies for their participation in the Royal Australian Navy's 75th Anniversary celebrations and offers all personnel involved the warmest welcome to Australia.

Senator Vallentine: To move on the next day of sitting-That the Senate-

(a) commends the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) on 75 years of nuclear-free service to the nation; and

(b) regrets that the RAN chose to invite representatives of nuclear navies, especially warships carrying nuclear weapons, to join in its 75th Anniversary celebrations.
