PETITIONS

The following 12 petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators indicated, were received:

Senators Michael Baume and Chaney, from 104 and 26 petitioners, respectively, praying that the Senate request the Government to introduce its capital gains tax legislation and that this legislation be opposed in the Senate.

Senator Reid, from 35 petitioners praying that the Senate request the Government to increase family allowances.

Senator Richardson, from 11 petitioners praying that the Senate act to protect society from moral pollution and its harmful effects.

Senator Richardson, from 24 petitioners praying that the Senate reject the Australian Bill of Rights and Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Bills.

Senator Vigor, from 150 petitioners praying that the Senate support the Australian Capital Territory Smoking and Tobacco Products Advertisements Prohibition Bill 1983 [1985].

Senators Coates, Robertson and Tate, from 9, 7 and 8 petitioners, respectively, praying that the lease of the Pine Gap Defence Space Research Facility be terminated 1 year from October 1986, and that the future use of the facility be subject to public debate and ratification by the Parliament.

Senators Harradine and Townley, from 51 and 90 petitioners, respectively, praying that the Senate request the Government to protect the right of every employee to choose their own superannuation scheme and recognise only those schemes which provide genuine superannuation.

Senator Harradine, from 782 petitioners praying that the Senate amend the Sex Discrimination Act to enable the weight lifting limits for women employees to continue.
