PETITIONS

The following 13 petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators indicated, were received:

Senators Chaney and Kilgariff, from 14 and 12 petitioners, respectively, praying that the Senate request the Government to introduce its capital gains tax legislation and that this legislation be opposed in the Senate.

Senators Robertson and Short, from 3 and 188 petitioners, respectively, praying that laboratory experimentation upon Australian protected wildlife be prohibited.

Senators Robertson and Watson, from 18 and 26 petitioners, respectively, praying that the Senate request the Government to protect the right of every employee to choose their own superannuation scheme and recognise only those schemes which provide genuine superannuation.

Senator Durack, from 522 petitioners praying that the Australian Bill of Rights Bill 1985 be the subject of a referendum.

Senators Knowles (2) and Robertson (3), 5 petitions similar in wording, from 24, 60, 25, 104 and 19 petitioners, respectively, praying that the Senate reject the Australian Bill of Rights Bill 1985.

Senator Zakharov, from 32 petitioners praying that the Senate take action to ensure that legal barriers to equality between women and men in employment be removed.
