NAVIGATION AMENDMENT (DEREGULATION OF COASTING TRADE) BILL 1986

Senator Hamer, pursuant to Notice of Motion not objected to as a Formal Motion, moved-That leave be given to introduce a Bill for an Act to repeal Part VI of the Navigation Act 1912, so as to remove the obligation for ships to obtain a licence or a permit to engage in the coasting trade, and to repeal other sections of that Act which relate only to the coasting trade.

Question-put and passed.

Senator Hamer, by leave, moved-That this Bill be now read a second time.

On the motion of Senator Reid the debate was adjourned.
