PETITIONS

The following 10 petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators indicated, were received:

Senators Crowley and Sheil (2), 3 petitions similar in wording, from 38, 30 and 133 petitioners, respectively, praying that the Senate reject the Australian Bill of Rights Bill 1985.

Senator Boswell, from 14 petitioners praying that the Senate reject certain tax proposals which are outlined in the Government's White Paper of May 1985.

Senator Boswell, from 6 petitioners praying that the Senate request the Government to pass on the full benefit of lower international oil prices to the Australian public.

Senator Crowley, from 60 petitioners praying that the Senate request the Government to do all in its power to improve the quality and funding mechanisms for child care services.

Senator Jessop, from 30 petitioners praying that the Senate reject the Australian Bill of Rights and Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Bills.

Senators Chipp and Lewis, from 9 and 25 petitioners, respectively, praying that no further action be taken towards self-government in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) until after the holding of a referendum of voters of the ACT.

Senator Kilgariff, from 95 petitioners praying that the Senate request the Government to make urgent financial provision to the Australian National Parks and Wildlife Service for the construction of a sealed road from Ayers Rock to the Olgas.
