BROADCASTING OF PARLIAMENTARY PROCEEDINGS-JOINT STATUTORY COMMITTEE-STATEMENT BY PRESIDENT-PAPER

The President made a statement relating to the Special Report of the Joint Statutory Committee on the Broadcasting of Parliamentary Proceedings on Televising and Radio Broadcasting of Both Houses of Parliament and their Committees, and tabled the following Paper:

Conditions for granting access to Proceedings of the Senate and the House of Representatives for the purpose of recording and broadcasting excerpts.

Senator Peter Rae, by leave, made a statement relating to the Paper.

Senator Harradine, by leave, moved-That the Senate take note of the Paper.

Debate ensued.

The Minister for Industry, Technology and Commerce (Senator Button) moved-That the debate be now adjourned.

Question-put and negatived.

Debate continued.

On the motion of the Minister for Community Services (Senator Grimes) the debate was adjourned.
