PETITIONS

The following petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators indicated, were received: Senators Kilgariff, Peter Rae and Watson, from 11, 14 and 36 petitioners, respectively, praying that the Costigan Royal Commission be extended to at least 31 March 1985 and that the Parliament not be dissolved until after it has received and debated the Commissioner's Report.

Senator Collard, from 35 petitioners praying that the Australian flag be not changed except with the consent of the people in a referendum.

Senators Baume and Scott, from 47 and 21 petitioners, respectively, praying that the Senate act to protect society from moral pollution and its harmful effects.

Senators Collard, MacGibbon and Martin, from 26, 59 and 48 petitioners, respectively, praying that former legislation banning the entry into Australia and sale of hard-core pornographic and violent videos and publications be re-enacted.

Senator Haines, from 653 petitioners praying that the Senate request the Government to support the United Nations World Disarmament Campaign; remove all nuclear-related military installations in Australia; end all port-of-call and landing rights arrangements for foreign nuclear forces; support the establishment of nuclear-free zones in the Pacific and Indian Oceans; and end the mining and export of Australian uranium.
