PETITIONS

The following petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators indicated, were received: Senators Archer and Walters, from 12 and 495 petitioners, respectively, praying that the existing Australian National Flag be not changed.

Senator Sir John Carrick, from 76 petitioners praying that the Senate act to protect society from moral pollution and its harmful effects.

Senator Boswell, from 327 petitioners praying that former legislation banning the entry into Australia and sale of hard-core pornographic and violent videos and publications be re-enacted.

Senator Boswell, from 647 petitioners praying that the decision to allow privileges and travel entitlements to homosexual staff of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation be reversed.

Senator Archer, from 66 petitioners praying that the decision not to upgrade Wynyard Airport in Tasmania be reversed.

Senator Messner, from 394 petitioners praying that the Australian flag be not changed except with the consent of the people in a referendum.

Senators Lajovic, Messner, Peter Rae and Teague, from 18, 242, 18 and 36 petitioners, respectively, praying that the Costigan Royal Commission be extended to at least 31 March 1985 and that the Parliament not be dissolved until after it has received and debated the Commissioner's Report.

Senator Baume, from 92 petitioners praying that the Parliament restore the recurrent grant to Australian tertiary education halls and colleges of residence to the real level of 1983 and that the funding of tertiary student accommodation be increased on a needs basis.
