CONDUCT OF A JUDGE-REFERENCE OF MATERIAL TO DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC PROSECUTIONS-PROPOSED RESCISSION OF RESOLUTION: Suspension of Standing Orders

The Manager of Government Business (Senator Grimes) moved-That so much of the Standing Orders be suspended as would prevent Senator Grimes moving a motion forthwith for the rescission of the Resolution of the Senate of 6 September 1984 for the reference of material to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Question-put and passed.

Senator Grimes thereupon moved-That the Resolution of the Senate of 6 September 1984 for the reference of material to the Director of Public Prosecutions be rescinded.

Debate ensued.

On the motion of the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate (Senator Chaney) the debate was adjourned.

Ordered-That the resumption of the debate be an Order of the Day for a later hour of the day.
