COMMONWEALTH OMBUDSMAN-INVESTIGATION INTO ALLEGATIONS BY MR D. W. WITHEFORD-MINISTERIAL STATEMENT-PAPER

The Attorney-General (Senator Gareth Evans), by leave, made a statement relating to the investigation by the Commonwealth Ombudsman into allegations made by Mr D. W. Witheford, and laid upon the Table the following Paper: Commonwealth Ombudsman-Copy of letter from the Commonwealth Ombudsman to the Minister for Foreign Affairs (Mr Hayden), dated 14 December 1983.

The Leader of the Opposition in the Senate (Senator Chaney), by leave, moved-That the Senate take note of the Statement and Paper.

Ordered-That the debate be adjourned till the next day of sitting, and that Senator Chaney have leave to continue his speech on the resumption of the debate.
