Senator Jack Evans, by leave, moved the following amendments together: Page 9, clause 17, sub-clause (2), line 30, leave out '', with the approval of the Minister under section 18,''.

Page 9, clause 17, after sub-clause (2), insert the following new sub-clause: ''(2A) The Authority may, where it considers it appropriate to do so, hold an inquiry into and submit a report on whether the price at which a person who supplies or proposes to supply goods or services which are declared to be notified goods or services under paragraph 21 (1) (a) is justified and if the Authority is of the opinion that the price is not justified, what lower price for the supply by that person of goods and services of that description would be justified.''.

Page 10, clause 18, paragraph (1) (b), lines 9 and 10, leave out the paragraph.

Page 10, clause 18, after sub-clause (1), insert the following new sub-clauses: ''(1A) Where the Authority has given notice under paragraph 19 (1) (a) that it is to hold an inquiry under sub-section 17 (2A), the Minister may, by instrument in writing delivered to the Chairman- (a) direct that the Authority shall not proceed with that inquiry; or

(b) vary the terms of any such inquiry.

''(1B) Where an instrument is issued under sub-section (1A), the Minister shall- (a) cause that instrument and the reasons for the decisions contained therein to be published in the Gazette; and

(b) give to any person or persons whose interests are directly affected by the decision notification in writing of the making of the decision.''.

Page 11, clause 21, sub-clause (1), line 31, leave out ''with the approval of the Minister''.

Page 11, clause 21, sub-clause (2), line 40, leave out ''with the approval of the Minister''.
