PETITIONS

The following petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators indicated, were received: Senator Coleman, from 33 petitioners praying that the Government not legislate for any plant variety rights system which gives exclusive ownership rights over seeds to individuals, organizations or enterprises.

Senators Bjelke-Petersen, Kilgariff and Sibraa, from 14, 2 and 15 petitioners, respectively, praying that the Senate amend the Sex Discrimination Bill 1983 to prevent it being used in support of deliberately procured abortions.

Senator Archer, from 631 petitioners praying that the decision not to upgrade Wynyard Airport in Tasmania be reversed.

Senators Bjelke-Petersen and Hamer, from 193 and 42 petitioners, respectively, praying that the Senate ensure that chiropractic services are included in Medicare.

Senator Collard, from 50 petitioners praying that the Oath of Allegiance be not changed.

Senator Chipp, from 18 petitioners praying that a referendum be held in the Australian Capital Territory before the proposal for a casino is resolved.

Senator Lewis, from 14 petitioners praying that the Local Government (Personal Income Tax Sharing) Act 1976 be amended to provide a minimum guarantee to local government general revenue sharing arrangements.

Senator Childs, from 15 petitioners praying that support be shown for the Government's education policies regarding Government and non-Government school funding.

Senator Childs, from 806 petitioners praying that action be taken to close all United States bases in Australia.
