PETITIONS

The following petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators indicated, were received: Senator Archer, from 551 petitioners praying that the decision not to upgrade Wynyard Airport in Tasmania be reversed.

Senator Baume, from 17 petitioners praying that Federal Government per capita grants in respect of all children in non-Government schools be continued at a level not less than that prevailing in 1983.

Senators Durack, Harradine and Messner, from 116, 266 and 54 petitioners, respectively, praying that the Senate amend the Sex Discrimination Bill 1983 to prevent it being used in support of deliberately procured abortions.

Senators Baume, Collard, Georges, Dame Margaret Guilfoyle and Lewis, from 30, 9, 67, 8 and 38 petitioners, respectively, praying that support be shown for the Government's education policies regarding Government and non-Government school funding.

Senators Maguire, Robert Ray and Sibraa, from 40, 77 and 46 petitioners, respectively, praying that the Senate ensure that chiropractic services are included in Medicare.

Senator Sibraa, from 55 petitioners praying that a Senate Select Committee on Nuclear Disarmament and Peace be established to investigate the creation of a Ministry of Peace and Nuclear Disarmament.

Senator Collard, from 22 petitioners praying that the Australian Cadet Corps be not reorganized.

Senator Collard, from 29 petitioners praying that the Local Government (Personal Income Tax Sharing) Act 1976 be amended to provide a minimum guarantee to local government general revenue sharing arrangements.
