PETITIONS

The following petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators indicated, were received: Senators Robertson, Ryan and Zakharov, from 40, 16 and 24 petitioners, respectively, praying that support be shown for the Government's education policies regarding Government and non-Government school funding.

Senators Dame Margaret Guilfoyle, Jessop and Lewis, from 14, 6 and 25 petitioners, respectively, praying that the Local Government (Personal Income Tax Sharing) Act 1976 be amended to provide a minimum guarantee to local government general revenue sharing arrangements.

Senators Sir John Carrick, Chaney, Dame Margaret Guilfoyle and Robertson, from 185, 300, 15 and 312 petitioners, respectively, praying that the Senate amend the Sex Discrimination Bill 1983 to prevent it from being used in support of deliberately procured abortions.

Senator Robertson, from 25 petitioners praying that action be taken to discontinue uranium mining in Australia, and in particular the Roxby Downs uranium mine development, and that a moratorium on uranium mining and treatment be declared.

Senators Roberston and Ryan, from 26 and 64 petitioners, respectively, praying that Federal Government per capita grants in respect of all children in non-Government schools be continued at a level not less than that prevailing in 1983.

Senator Ryan, from 68 petitioners praying that the United Nations Convention on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women be ratified.

Senator Ryan, from 66 petitioners praying that the recommendation of the Commonwealth Schools Commission in respect of non-Government schools be accepted.
