Clause 2 read- Senator Jack Evans moved an amendment, viz: Page 1, after sub-clause (2), insert the following new sub-clause: ''(2A) The amendments of the Principal Act made by clause 30A of the Schedule to this Act shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1 June 1983.''.

Debate ensued.

Question-That the words proposed to be inserted be inserted-put and negatived.

Clause 2 agreed to.

Clause 3 debated and agreed to.

Clauses 4 to 6, by leave, taken together and agreed to.

Schedule read- Senator Macklin moved an amendment, viz: Page 7, after clause 10, insert the following new clause: ''10A. Item 36 in the First Schedule is amended- (a) by inserting in sub-item (4) ', that is, the fermented juice of the grape, or of any other fruit or plant' after 'Australian wine'; and

(b) by adding after sub-item (4) the following sub-item: '(5) Australian mead Nos. 1 to 4 and 9'.''.
