PETITIONS

The following petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators indicated, were received: Senator Sir John Carrick, from 12 petitioners praying that the Senate disallow any ordinance to authorise the establishment of a gambling casino in Canberra.

Senators Watson, Robertson, Baume, Peter Rae and Jack Evans, from 18, 86, 77, 46 and 111 petitioners, respectively, praying that the United Nations Convention on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women be not ratified.

Senator Kilgariff, from 1260 petitioners praying that the proposed railway from Adelaide to Darwin be completed.

Senator Robertson, from 12 petitioners praying that the United Nations Convention on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women be ratified.
