The Deputy-President (Senator Hamer) reported that the President had received letters, from the Leader of the Government, the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate and the Leader of the Australian Democrats nominating Senators to be members of Standing Committees, Estimates Committees, and Joint Statutory Committees, as follows:

STANDING COMMITTEES:

Library Senators Colston, Harradine, Maguire, Reynolds, Teague and Walters

Privileges Senators Bolkus, Button, Childs, Jessop, Macklin, Missen and Robert Ray

Publications Senators Archer, Colston, Elstob, Jones, Scott, Townley and Zakharov

ESTIMATES COMMITTEES:

The Minister for Veterans' Affairs (Senator Gietzelt), by leave, moved- (1) That a Standing Orders Committee, a Committee of Privileges, a Library Committee and a Publications Committee be appointed to consist of the Senators nominated.

(2) That, in regard to Estimates Committees, the Senators, having been duly nominated in accordance with provisions of Standing Order 36AB, be appointed members of the Estimates Committees.

(3) That, in accordance with the provisions of the Parliamentary Proceedings Broadcasting Act 1946, the Public Accounts Committee Act 1951, and the Public Works Committee Act 1969, the Senators nominated be appointed members of the respective Committees.
