PETITIONS

The following petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators indicated, were received: Senator Kilgariff, from 90 petitioners praying that the Senate appeal to the Philippines Government to restore human rights to all prisoners and particularly political prisoners.

Senator Jessop, from 44 petitioners of Western Australia praying that the maintenance of an efficient, effective public telegram service be ensured.

Senator Macklin, from 31 petitioners praying that the Parliament urge the Government to establish a Royal Commission to investigate the effects on Vietnam veterans of the use of toxic chemicals in the Vietnam war.

Senator Bolkus, from 20 petitioners praying that stringent and immediate action be taken against tax avoidance and evasion.

Senator McLaren, from 20 petitioners praying that the generous terms of a Commonwealth home loan granted to the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Anthony, be granted to the thousands of home buyers suffering undue hardship because of high interest rates.
