SALARIES AND WAGES PAUSE BILL 1982

-Message from the House of Representatives: The following Message from the House of Representatives was reported: MR PRESIDENT, Message No. 404 The House of Representatives transmits to the Senate a Bill intituled ''A Bill for an Act to suspend for 12 months the powers of certain authorities in relation to the remuneration of certain persons, and for certain other purposes'', in which it desires the concurrence of the Senate.

House of Representatives, B. M. SNEDDEN, Canberra, 15 December 1982 Speaker The Minister for Social Security (Senator Chaney) moved-That the Bill may be taken through all its stages without delay.

Question-put and passed.

On the motion of Senator Chaney the Bill was read a first time.

Senator Chaney moved-That this Bill be now read a second time.

On the motion of Senator Grimes the debate was adjourned.

Ordered-That the resumption of the debate be an Order of the Day for a later hour of the day.
