PETITIONS

The following petitions, lodged with the Clerk by the Senators indicated, were received: Senator McLaren, from 16 petitioners praying that the generous terms of a Commonwealth home loan granted to the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Anthony, be granted to the thousands of home buyers suffering undue hardship because of high interest rates.

Senators Childs, Grimes, Tate, Haines, Elstob and McIntosh, from 32, 17, 16, 17, 16 and 16 petitioners, respectively, praying that the Parliament urge the Government to establish a Royal Commission to investigate the effects on Vietnam veterans of the use of toxic chemicals in the Vietnam war.

Senator Bolkus, from 11 petitioners praying that stringent and immediate action be taken against tax avoidance and evasion.

Senator Lajovic, from 169 petitioners praying that the Senate urge that diplomatic relations with Yugoslavia be discontinued and the United Nations General Assembly be asked to supervise a referendum whereby the constituent nations of the Federation of Yugoslavia may vote on the question of secession.

Senator Lajovic, from 622 petitioners praying that the Senate request the Government to communicate to the Government of the U.S.S.R. the wish of the petitioners that the Church of Mary Queen of Peace be restored to the Catholics of Klaipeda.

Senator Sibraa, from 95 petitioners of New South Wales praying that the generous terms of a Commonwealth home loan granted to the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Anthony, be granted to the thousands of young couples suffering undue hardship because of high interest rates.
