Order of the Day read for the adjourned debate on the Question-That these Bills be now read a second time-And on the amendment moved thereto by Senator Martyr in respect of the Family Law Amendment Bill 1981, viz: Leave out all words after ''That'', insert ''the Bill be withdrawn to enable a new Bill to be drafted which consolidates the provisions of the Family Law Act 1975 and the Marriage Act 1961 to govern the making, subsistence and, if necessary, dissolution of marriage, and which provides for-

(a) the establishment within the institution of marriage of the principle of preparation for, permanence of, and commitment to, marriage, including marriage contracts;

(b) abolition of the Family Court of Australia, with original jurisdiction being vested in a State Court exercising Federal jurisdiction, and a Family Division of the Federal Court exercising appellate jurisdiction;

(c) the 'no-fault' provision of the existing law to be replaced by 'just cause' and annulment provisions and the twelve month period of separation within the existing law to be extended to two years, except for annulments, and all marriage dissolution matters to be heard at once before decree nisi; and

(d) the abolition of the Family Law Council and the Institute of Family Studies' '.
