NOTICE OF MOTION

Senator Gietzelt, by leave, gave a Notice of Motion, as follows-That on the next day of sitting, he would move-That the Senate, aware of the increasing cost, danger and ineffectiveness of arms and negotiations for disarmament development and the four freedoms of the Atlantic Charter, calls upon all nations to- (a) cease production and deployment of nuclear weapons and their delivery systems;

(b) negotiate a treaty for comprehensive disarmament under enforceable world law , which would include-

(i) disarmament of all nations to the level of armament required for internal security,

(ii) an international inspection organisation able to monitor disarmament and detect violations of the agreement using satellites and on-site inspection,

(iii) a world peace force able to enforce disarmament and prevent international agression, members of which should be individually recruited,

(iv) an effective system of world courts and arbitration tribunals, and

(v) a world development fund through which a fixed proportion of the resources made available through disarmament will be devoted to development in the poorest nations of the world.
