DISCUSSION OF MATTER OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE

The President informed the Senate that Senator Bolkus had proposed that a matter of public importance be submitted to the Senate for discussion, viz: ''The continual failure of the Prime Minister and the coalition government to honour the promises made to the people of Australia as outlined in their 1980 policy speech''.

And at least four Senators having risen in support of the proposed discussion-

The President called upon Senator Bolkus to speak.

Document tabled: Senator Kilgariff moved-That, pursuant to Standing Order 364, the document quoted from by Senator Bolkus be laid upon the Table.

Question-put and passed.

Senator Bolkus thereupon laid upon the Table the following Paper:
