FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND DEFENCE-JOINT COMMITTEE

-Message from the House of Representatives: The following Message from the House of Representatives was reported:

MR PRESIDENT, Message No. 234 The House of Representatives transmits to the Senate the following Resolution which was agreed to by the House of Representatives this day, and requests that the Senate concur and take action accordingly:

That the resolution of appointment of the Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence be amended as follows:

(a) By omitting paragraph (7) and substituting the following paragraph:

''(7) That the committee have power to appoint not more than 3 sub-committees consisting of a minimum of 3 of its members, and to refer to any such sub- committee any of the matters which the committee is empowered to consider.''.

(b) By inserting the following paragraph: ''(7A) That, in addition to the members appointed pursuant to paragraph (7), the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the committee be ex-officio members of each sub-committee appointed.''.

(c) By inserting the following paragraph: ''(8A) That members of the committee who are not members of a sub-committee may take part in the proceedings of that sub-committee but shall not vote or move any motion or constitute a quorum.''.
