Clause 3 read-

The Attorney-General (Senator Durack), by leave, moved the following amendments together:

Page 1, sub-clause (1), line 21, after ''Northern Territory'', insert ''or Norfolk Island''.

Page 2, sub-clause (1), line 6, after ''court'', insert '', the Northern Territory or the Administration of an external Territory''.

Page 2, sub-clause (1), definition of ''Commonwealth institution'', leave out paragraph (e), insert the following paragraph:

''(e) The Administration of an external Territory other than Norfolk Island;''.

Question-That the amendments be agreed to-put and passed.

Debate ensued.

Senator Tate, by leave, moved the following amendments together:

Page 2, sub-clause (1), line 10, definition of ''Commonwealth institution'', after ''including'', insert ''the Executive Council,''.

Page 2, sub-clause (1), definition of ''Commonwealth institution'', after paragraph (a), insert the following new paragraph:

''(aa) the Governor-General;''.

Debate ensued.

And it being eleven p.m.: The Chairman of Committees (Senator McClelland), under Sessional Order, put the Question-That he do leave the Chair and report to the Senate.

Question-resolved in the affirmative.

The President resumed the Chair; and Senator McClelland reported accordingly.
