DEATH OF FORMER SENATOR THE HONOURABLE PATRICK JOHN KENNELLY

The Leader of the Government in the Senate (Senator Carrick) referred to the death, on 12 October 1981, of former Senator the Honourable Patrick John Kennelly, A.O., and, by leave, moved--That the Senate expresses its deep regret at the death, on 12 October 1981, of the Honourable Patrick John Kennelly, A.O., a Senator for the State of Victoria from 1953 to 1971, and Deputy-Leader of the Opposition in the Senate from 1956 to 1967, places on record its appreciation of his long and meritorious public service and tenders its profound sympathy to his widow and family in their bereavement.

And the motion having been seconded by the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate (Senator Button), and supported by the Leader of the National Country Party of Australia in the Senate (Senator Scott), the Acting Leader of the Australian Democrats (Senator Mason), and Senators McClelland, Mulvihill, Martyr, Keeffe and Georges--

And all Senators present having stood, in silence--
