DISCUSSION OF MATTERS OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE

The President informed the Senate that Senator Ryan had proposed that a matter of public importance be submitted to the Senate for discussion, viz: ""The Federal Government's failure to carry out its constitutional responsibility to ensure fair and just conditions for Aboriginal Australians.''.

And at least four Senators having risen in support of the proposed discussion--

The President called upon Senator Ryan to speak.

Discussion ensued.

Ordered--That the business of the day be called on.
