The Leader of the Opposition in the Senate (Senator Button), by leave and at the request of Senator Harradine, gave a Notice of Motion, as follows--That (contingent upon the Sales Tax Amendment Bills (Nos 1A to 9A) 1981 being read a second time) Senator Harradine would move--That so much of the Standing Orders be suspended as would prevent Senator Harradine moving the following motion: That the Senate declares that any decision by the Senate to make requests to the House of Representatives for amendment of the Sales Tax Amendment Bills (Nos 1A to 9A) 1981 does not indicate that the Senate considers that all of the provisions of those Bills are properly included in Bills imposing taxation.
