DISCUSSION OF MATTER OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE

The President informed the Senate that the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate (Senator Button) had proposed that a matter of public importance be submitted to the Senate for discussion, viz:

""The absence of a coherent Government industrial relations policy and the exacerbation of industrial disputes by the Fraser Government.''.

And at least four Senators having risen in support of the proposed discussion--

The President called upon Senator Button to speak.

Discussion ensued.

Senator Walters moved--That the business of the day be called on.

Question--put and passed.
