Senator BOSWELL (Leader of the National Party of Australia in the Senate and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Transport and Regional Services) (9:16 PM) —We did have that debate and we clearly came down on the side of not trading in human tissue. I thought that what applied within Australia in terms of trading in human tissue is what would have been required in terms of sending stem cells overseas. We cannot trade in human tissue in Australia and therefore I would have thought that we should not have been able to trade in Aussie embryos overseas.

Question negatived.
