Senator HARRADINE (9:40 AM) —by leave—I want also to acknowledge the work that you, Mr President, the Speaker and the committee have done. But I want to ensure that at some stage the Senate itself will be able to debate the Podger report, particularly with regard to those aspects that may, in effect, limit the powers of the Senate and the ability of the Senate to exercise those powers. I do not want that part of that report just side-shoved so that action can be taken on that report. Rather, it ought to come into the house.

The PRESIDENT —I am advised that, once the Appropriations and Staffing Committee have given their assessment of that report, it can come to the Senate.

Debate (on motion by Senator Robert Ray) adjourned.
