Senator COULTER —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the Senate—

  (a)notes that:

    (i)a Victorian Government audit of the forest industry code of practice found that in 30 per cent of instances studied the code was breached by the timber industry, and

    (ii)the Minister for the Environment, Sport and Territories (Senator Faulkner) is considering the formation of a federal monitoring capability to oversee woodchipping operations; and

  (b)calls on the Government, as a matter of urgency, to establish a monitoring arm within the environment portfolio before the next round of woodchip licence renewals.
