Senator Spindler asked the Minister representing the Minister for Human Services and Health, upon notice, on 23 August 1994:

  (1) When and where was the last meeting of the Council of Social Welfare Ministers.

  2) What were the items concerning children and young people placed by the Commonwealth and others on the agenda at this meeting.

  (3) By whom was each item referred to in (2) placed on the agenda, and what was the outcome.

  (4) When and where will the next meeting be held.


Senator Crowley —The Minister for Human Services and Health has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

  (1) The Council of Social Welfare Ministers, now referred to as the Community Services Ministers Conference, last met in Perth for its annual meeting on 21 March 1994.

  (2) The agenda for Perth included the following items concerning children and young people along with identification of the lead agency for each item:
