To the Honourable the President and members of the Senate:

The humble petition of certain citizens of and visitors to Darwin in the Northern Territory of the Commonwealth of Australia, draws to the attention of the House that the incidence of intrusive noise levels and the risk of an accident catastrophic or otherwise associated with military aircraft in Darwin, especially during extended military exercises, is having an adverse effect on the health, quality of life and safety of the Darwin community.

The inability of the Australian Defence Forces, due to lack of adequate planning and control to effectively deal with the health, quality of life and danger to life and property, is causing constitution and disquiet within the community.

Your petitioners therefore pray that the Senate, in parliament assembled, should therefore take appropriate action to protect the wellbeing of the Darwin community.
