To the Honourable the President and Members of the Senate in Parliament assembled.

The petition of the undersigned citizens of Australia opposes any United Nations inspired intervention by the Federal Government in the democratically enacted laws of the State of Tasmania noting that the Attorney-General, Mr Lavarch, admits that the recent ruling by the United Nations has no direct impact on Australian or Tasmanian law.

Your petitioners request that the Senate uphold the purposes of its formation and support the right of the State of Tasmania to determine its own social laws through its democratically elected Parliament and oppose any legislation seeking to override Tasmania's laws.
