Senator Watson asked the Minister representing the Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Public Service Matters, upon notice, on 30 June 1994:

  Please provide a list, by department, of all Senior Executive Service (SES) officers above the level of Band 2 SES, including departmental secretaries, who have resigned, as opposed to retired, from the Australian Public Service in the past 5 years.

Senator Robert Ray —The Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Public Service Matters has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

  (1) The following numbers of SES officers above Band 2 level and departmental secretaries have resigned from the agencies indicated over the period 1 July 1989 to 30 June 1994 inclusive:

  (2) Data for SES Band 3 over the period 89/93 have been extracted from the Continuous Record of Personnel (maintained by the Department of Finance); 1994 figures were obtained from departments.

  (3) Information has only been provided as to the names of individual Secretaries, as there have been public announcements in relation to their resignations. For the SES Band 3 staff there are privacy considerations involved, and agreement would need to be sought from the individuals to release their names.
