  (2) Who will be receiving the business card holders.

  (3) Was this the total cost of the purchase; if not, what was the total cost, including transport, etcetera.

  (4) Were the business card holders for use in a promotional exercise; if so, what was the promotional exercise and did it work.

  (5) Have all of the business card holders been used; if not, what has happened to the remainder.

Senator Robert Ray —The answer to the honourable senator's question is as follows:

  (1) The business card holders were distributed as part of a promotional package at Defence Procurement 94, an annual event held in Canberra.

  (2) Recipients were primarily potential suppliers to Materiel Management Division, Headquarters Logistic Command.

  (3) No. Total cost was $5 030. The additional $135 being for exchange rate variation.

  (4) Yes. As I have mentioned the activity was Defence Procurement 94. The effectiveness of the promotional exercise is not easily gauged, although favourable comment was received.

  (5) No. The business card holders not used have been retained by Materiel Management Division for distribution at similar events in the future.
