Senator PATTERSON (12.44 p.m.) —I wish to speak to Senator Lees's comments. It is sometimes difficult when two people from the one party are responsible for taking a bill through. I discussed with Senator Woodley yesterday the motion to send the matter off to the rural affairs committee. We circulated the amendment yesterday evening, and I had told Senator Woodley that that is what I would be doing. I thought I had informed the appropriate person in the Democrats. If Senator Lees was not aware of that, I am sorry. I do not think I need to apologise for that because I believed that I had appropriately informed the Democrats of what we were doing. I will leave it at that, and I indicate that we will not be supporting the Democrats' amendment.
