Senator BROWNHILL (Deputy Leader of the National Party of Australia) —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the Senate—

  (a)notes that:

    (i)the poorest electorates in Australia are located in rural areas of Australia,

    (ii)requests for additional funding for education of children living in these poor rural areas, especially remote areas, has yet again been denied by the Federal Government, despite constant pleas from groups such as the Isolated Children's Parents Association, and

    (iii)existing Government policies actively encourage families in remote areas to separate by providing disproportionate financial incentives; and

  (b)urges the Federal Government, in this the International Year of the Family, to develop policies and plans that match the rhetoric contained in documents such as the Government's social justice strategy paper.
