Senator LOOSLEY —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the Senate—

  (a)notes the concerns expressed by Lebanese Australians about recent political developments in Lebanon;

  (b)expresses its concern over actions taken by the Government of Lebanon to ban the broadcasting of news and airing of political programming and commentary by private radio and television stations; and

  (c)calls on the Government of Lebanon:

    (i)to permit all licensed radio and television stations to resume broadcasting of political commentary,

    (ii)to reassure the international community that Lebanon will adhere to its human rights obligations by upholding the rule of law and the principle of freedom of expression for all its citizens, including freedom of political association, and

    (iii)to observe due process in all civil and criminal matters.
