Senator CROWLEY (Minister for Family Services) (6.08 p.m.) —The income sources of those projected to remain dependent on other sources of income support are disaggregated in table 1 according to data drawn from ABS labour force statistics and surveys of retirement and retirement intentions. On the basis of these estimates it is projected that approximately 78 per cent of women who would otherwise have received the age pension but will be eligible for alternative DSS income support will continue working, either in a full-time or a part-time capacity. The remainder will be dependent on a partner's income or other private income source such as superannuation, workers compensation or property income. That explanation was also part of the papers provided to the committee.
