Senator CROWLEY (Minister for Family Services) (5.59 p.m.) —I do not believe that, in this legislation, I have to give Senator Kernot, chapter and verse, proof of all of those things. She herself has already admitted there are changes for the better. That is the line I was drawing. The increase in education to this point for girls is without question. The same can be said for industrial relations and superannuation.

But it is not our business here to argue all of those things, particularly as Senator Kernot seems to be asking me for evidence now of what will be there in a few years time. The best we can go on is the commitment of this government to continuing to improve those things based on the evidence we have got of its reforms to this point, including some that Senator Kernot has already cited. I do not want to take up the time of the committee arguing these things. There is good evidence. One could be very encouraged that the climate is improving dramatically for women. I know of no reason why that will not continue.
