Senator CROWLEY (Minister for Family Services) (5.27 p.m.) —If Senator Harradine wants to know the amount of money involved, he will find that it is spelt out in the explanatory memorandum.

Senator Harradine —Not for each item.

Senator CROWLEY —While I am on my feet I would like to answer a question from Senator Woodley on the numbers affected. We do not have a state by state breakdown but the figures provided to me suggest that we are expecting the number of people receiving the age pension to drop by 12,000 in 1995-96. Because 80 per cent of those people are expected to transfer to another form of payment, that means that 2,400 will not receive another payment.

In answer to Senator Harradine, I have no further details to those in the explanatory memorandum. I am trying to find out how much of this data was extensively canvassed in the Senate hearing. It is important that we do not spend too long trawling ground that has already been extensively canvassed.
