Senator ABETZ —by leave—I wish to make a personal explanation. Some comment was made earlier in the debate by Senator Chris Evans concerning my absenting myself from debate on a matter of public importance that I had raised in the Senate yesterday. I did absent myself for a very brief period during the debate. The reason for that was that I had been given a note indicating a potentially serious family matter. I therefore had to briefly absent myself from the chamber to telephone my eight-months pregnant wife and arrange a potential air flight back to Tasmania in the event that that was necessary. I am thankful to say that I did not have to leave immediately. I can assure the Senate that my family will always come before any debate in this chamber and any contribution Senator Evans might be making at the time.
