Senator CHAMARETTE (7.09 p.m.) —I move:

That the Senate take note of the document.

This document reports on the progress of the Western Australian government in implementing the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody. I regret that I cannot make a comment on it, particularly as it refers to my own state of Western Australia. I understand that the Western Australian government has been seriously criticised in relation to its implementation of the commission's recommendations. It is therefore important to give this report due consideration. As with the previous report, I express my concern about the lack of availability of this document to the Senate and I seek leave to continue my remarks later.

  Leave granted; debate adjourned.

The ACTING DEPUTY PRESIDENT (Senator Teague)—For the benefit of honourable senators, I note that the implementation report for South Australia, which has been tabled, was circulated in the usual way so that we all had a copy in our hands.
