Senator COULTER —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the Senate—

  (a)notes, with deep concern, that the Queensland Government has failed to provide funding for the Daintree rescue package in the State's Budget delivered on 31 May 1994 to match the Commonwealth's allocation of $11.6 million over 3 years;

  (b)recognises that the Commonwealth's provision of funding was made conditional upon State funds being made available;

  (c)expresses alarm that both governments have failed to guarantee funding to rescue the Daintree, one of the highest conservation value areas in the world; and

  (d)calls on the Commonwealth to immediately provide double the funding allocated in its 1994-95 Budget to rescue the Daintree, and to deduct half of this amount from contributions to the Queensland Government.
