Senator ABETZ —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate calls on the Attorney-General (Mr Lavarch):

  (a)to desist from abusing Australia's Constitution through the invocation of the external affairs power in seeking to override the right of Tasmanians to determine their social laws as determined by the democratically elected parliament chosen by the people of Tasmania; and

  (b)to disregard the United Nations ruling on which he seeks to rely, given that it is based on:

    (i)falsehoods presented by Mr Toonen,

    (ii)tortured logic,

    (iii)incorrect findings of fact, and

    (iv)a hearing which was in breach of basic and fundamental rules of natural justice;

  and was determined by individuals whose knowledge of Australian laws and needs is even further removed than that of the Privy Council.
