Senator COULTER —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

  That the Senate—

  (a)notes that:

    (i)on 1 June 1994 the Commission of Inquiry reports to the Minister about the most appropriate ecologically sustainable future uses of Shoalwater Bay, and

    (ii)one of the uses which was examined by the inquiry was sand mining in the coastal dunes of Shoalwater Bay and in the Clinton Lowlands;

  (b)recognises that sand mining would be an inappropriate use as mining would threaten the very high ecological values of the Shoalwater Bay area; and

  (c)calls on the Minister to reject sand mining as an appropriate use, and to argue forcefully in Cabinet for no mining and for Shoalwater Bay to be maintained as a wilderness area.
